COVE Digital Harbour is a free, open-access ocean science platform developed by COVE – Canada’s marine technology innovation hub, located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Supported by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and the Government of Canada, Digital Harbour is a collaborative marine data initiative supporting discovery, development, and sustainable harbour management.
By bringing together real-time marine data across environmental, operational, and observational domains – from seabed to space – Digital Harbour enables trusted collaboration, reduces barriers to innovation, and supports responsible marine stewardship across Halifax Harbour and Canada’s East Coast.
The platform provides real-time vessel tracking (AIS), marine weather forecasts, bathymetry charts, AI-ready data foundations, and environmental sensor data. Data partners include SmartAtlantic, CIOOS, CEOTR, and CMAR. Founded with support from Irving Shipbuilding, the Province of Nova Scotia, Dalhousie University, NSCC, and the Government of Canada.
